Coronavirus: Contactless delivery explained

The corona crisis and lockdown prompted and accelerated growth in food ordering and changed how we do delivery. Earlier this year we introduced Contactless delivery to help our customers, couriers and partner stay safe during the pandemic.

How does contactless delivery work?
Customers who choose to pay through the online payment method will have their order delivered without physical contact. This means that the courier will place the delivery bag in front of the customers door. The courier will then ring the customer’s doorbell, step away from your door and wait until they pick up your order.

Instructions for contactless food delivery
1. Check the customer’s payment method. If they are paying with cash, please deliver as you normally would. If the customer has paid online, please read on.

2. When you arrive at the customer’s door, place your thermal delivery bag next to their door. If you don’t use a thermal delivery bag, place the customer’s order on the ground next to their door.

3. If you use a thermal delivery bag, unzip the bag and make sure the customer can retrieve their own delivery.

4. Ring the customer’s doorbell or knock on their door.

5. Immediately walk 2 metres away after signalling your arrival.

6. When the customer opens the door, give them a friendly greeting. Ask the customer to retrieve their order from your thermal delivery bag. If you have multiple orders in your bag, let the customer know which order is theirs.

7. Once the customer closes their door, collect your thermal delivery bag and continue.
